Lot 344 Turkish Eagle's Head Mameluke Sword with Scabbard

Turkish Eagle's Head Mameluke Sword with Scabbard, 25"curved bright blade with single edge, and fullers. Overall length is 30.75". Solid brass handle has a downward facing "(Eagle's head)" and various motifs, Turkish crescent moon with star on each side, rounded quillons, and langets with an arrow on one side. Condition is very good , blade shows spots of patina, and areas of frosting, with a few small nicks along the edge. Point has been rounded. Handle has been polished and is very good, showing light handling marks, and it fits firmly to the blade. The scabbard is made from black leather and has three brass lockets and a single loose ring. Each locket is stamped "45". A steel insert has been added to retain its shape. Condition is fair, the lower section is torn in two places and is now loose. The lockets show dents and patina.
